Burning Nano

Hello Guys I am new to this form so please be gentle. I have a small DD24litre Nano about 18 months old, I have a major problem with what I think is called the ballast for no reason one of the major pin connections is melting and making a strong burning smell . I have switched it off it stops the smell etc but my corals are suffering.I went back where I got the tank and was given a new ballast but it still is melting so the problem looks like its in the hood. Any ideas dont want to scrap the tank or really buy another hood but its looking grim.Any help would be gratefully appreciated

I don't know that much about working on tanks like that, but from personal experience, if something in the ballast is melting, sorching or burning, you may have a short on your hands, which isn't generally all that difficult to fix by yourself, if you have a bit of solder and hot glue.

you need to replace whats called the tombstones, they are the connectors that hold the metal pins from the light bulb
