bumble bee snail

Hi folks

Anyone have experience with these snails. Bought one for my nano - seems to be nocturnal except for the last two nights - it hasn't moved. I thought it had kicked the bucket so I lodged it out of it's cave last night and it stayed on the sand bed in the same spot all night. Went into the tank to see if it was alive and it was. I put it in the front of the tank and the thing made a b-line for another dark spot. Question - do these snails stay idle for days - i.e. don't need to graze or is it on its way out? My other snails are always in a different spot the next day. Thanks

IME, take it out. They are not algae grazers, they are sort of a detrivore that will attack other snails when food runs short. I have even read that some have found that they may forage for beneficial worms and pods.

IMO, take him out.

I've got a few in my tank and have never noticed a problem with them. Anyone else having any problems?

I have had them before and had no problems. They are not a cleaner though as Jesse pointed out but they are carnivores. They will eat leftover meaty food that ends up on the bottom of the tank. They do move some but not the constant grazing movements that we are accustomed to in snails. There are alot of people that are misled in thinking that they are buying really cool looking cleaners but that just isn't the case.

I have one which arrived on live rock. Dissappears for days at a time, sometimes does not move for days... I thought it was dead at first. No problems. Snails are breeding in the tank.
