Blue Carpet Anemone...

I read somewhere that if you get a clownfish veggie clip and put it right over the anemone then it encourages the real clowns to host in it. I am not sure how well that would work, but its worth a try.

Jesse,

No Dragon's clowns haven't been interested in anything at all in my tank other than feeding time.

Since they are tank raised clowns it takes them a while to learn the behavior of hosting an anemone; in the wild they don't host my Hoddoni anemone but rather choose the Gigantea anemone instead.

The Clarki and and Saddleback are the types that will host the hoddoni in the wild.

I do expect that with time they will host my anemone since it's the only one in my tank.

Ben,
Thanks for the info on the veggie clip, I will read up on how they work in enticing my pair to host.

How could I have missed this post.
WOW, I have never seen one like this...
This is a stunning, very unique blue carpet anemone.
Keep up the good work and congratulation with the new addition!
Your tank is looking better every day.

Thanks all,

Reef Central has a reefer that won tank of the month for Jan 06 and he shows that if you really research your stuff thoroughly, you can have LPS, SPS, Softies and a carpet anemone all in one.

The proof is out there, just read his thread.... learn and share.... good husbandry is also a big plus in this hobby.

On a side note, I was checking over my SPS corals since I recently had a death and noticed a small crab about the size of a pinky finger nail. He was using his claws to pick and pick at the body of the SPS.

I then kept watching him to see what he was up to and as I looked closer I noticed he is hairy and his small claws at the tip are black. I said I don't think so, so I reach in and pull out my SPS.

I take it to the kitchen and careful poke him off my coral and into a cup; then I say flush him or wait how about giving him to Mr. Blue.

Sure did and as I lowered him to the anemone I dropped him on the side which he got stuck and Mr. Blue took care of business within seconds.

This crab as small as he was managed to do some damage on the SPS and I'm sure he would've killed it with time; I'm led to believe there are more out there since it was tiny and there most be a mother crab.

I will have to film the next death of these bad little crabs....
