Best place for zoanthids?

I just got my first colony of zoanthids. I have a 10 gallon tank, about 10 inches deep. running two 20 watt screw-in compact fluorescent bulbs (50/50). Where's the best place for the corals? Do these guiys require much light? or will it suffice to place them in the middle of the tank with moderate water flow? Thanks!

It depends on where they are used to but I would place them in medium flow and medium light. If they don't open right within a few days you can always try moving them.

I highly recommend finding corals from other members of websites, reef clubs, and other reefers. You get corals for half the price that are twice as nice as anything you'll see at a typical LFS.

There are also nice websites out there... one is platinumreefs.com (but they are all sold out right now), aquadesignz.com (which is a LFS in my area), frags.org has a HUGE selection (it is a site that people post corals on to sell, floridapets.com has great stuff (that is where my blue zoas came from... he is also known as old.diver on ebay.com). There are many more out there too.

p.s. I think i misread this thread! I find that mine prefer medium to high indirect flow and medium to high light...it depends on the color, ie. blues are from a bit deeper depth than the brighter colors.

your light is a little low for most zoas to color up nice IMO so i would place them as high as you can and give them good flow (as much as possible) i've been experimenting with zoas lately and the two things that anacdotally show up immediatly is more light (a lot of actinic really makes them glow up, but white also is needed) = better color : more flow = better removale of mucus shed and less detrital collection

I was wondering about old diver and floridapets being the same person when I just read that, thanks for clearing that up.
When I tried the URL sealifeflorida.com I keep being redirected to a search page stating that it can't be found, any ideas whats wrong?

Just caught this thread, thanks for clearing that up Sadie!

As for where to place the zoos, I agree with Skip. If you are unsure as to where they were placed in the previous tank, its a good idea to try the medium light/flow area first.
