Bak pak 2r question...

I have a 2R on my 16g. Any time i disturb the tank to clean the glass or anything, it causes major bubble mist to come into the tank. Ive read online that this is caused by an imbalance in the water. But I dont think that is the case, unless i stir up the tank. Also, i regularly have a small amount of bubbles escaping the skimmer and going into the tank. Any solutions beside the somewhat invasive bubble trap that cpr produces? Maybe something like the internal trap for the bak pak 2?

Do you have the sponge attatched to the outflow pipe on the inside of the skimmer? It is supposed to catch the air bubbles before they get to your tank. As far as the skimmer going crazy whenever you disturb the tank this is caused by the surface tension of the water being changed, this can be caused by oils on your skin, food, most additives, etc. It is a temporary situation that will usually stabilize within a short period of time. If there is a problem when this happens you may want to stop/reduce the flow of air going into your skimmer when doing tank maintenance or feeding. HTH, Skip

Ive seen the sponge placement. All you have to do is put a sponge on the inside at the bottom of the outlet tube? Maybe ill do that.

Thats pretty much it. As I remember the sponge has a small hole so that it fits around the end of the outflow pipe. Good luck, Skip
