Hi guys! I'm happy to join the nanotank family and especially since this forum's active in Texas. I'm a fellow UT-Austin longhorn from Houston.

Hook'em if you got'em!

::My Precious 10g Jebo::
this tank has been going for almost 4 months, my ultimate goal will be to make it into 80%SPS tank. My most recent FTS was when it was 1 month, need to take another soon but it's going through a 'transformation'

:Tank Equipment:
-10g 15x10x15 Jebo R388 in purple
-Geisemann Nova II 150w HQI w/ Phoenix 14.5k bulb
-DIY Cold cathode tube ray moonlight
-HOB filter with chemipure
-50w Heater
-AquaCRemora w/ maxijet 1200
-Maxijet 600
-CaribSea Tahitian Moon Sand <---turns out i have black sand, bleh
-22lb+ LR

:Livestock at 4 months:
-2 peppermint shrimps
-Lawnmower Blenny named Lenny
-Pink Cynarina
-Green Cynarina
-flower leather
-Various zoos: IceyStar, Bam Bam Oranges, fire and ice, SafeCrackers, GreenBay Packers, Dragon Eyes, Radioactive Dragon Eyes, lot of diff Pinks and etc to name a few. www.zoaid.com
-Armaggedon Palythoas and others
-Pink symphillia val. brain
-huge white bubble coral
-neon candy cane
-purple mushrooms
-teal cand cane
-Neon GSP
-Dendrophyllia sp.
-various acan lord colormorphs
-3 different rainbow acan echinatas (need the orange crush to complete)
-3 colors of blastomussa wellsi

the ones in orange are my faves

i'm stocking up on sps soon, i think montiporas are pretty cool so i'll probably start with those first.

here are some pics of it's early beginnings, from the stock 2x18w to 2x32wPC:
1st day cycling:

2 weeks:

3 weeks:

1 month/LPS garden:

I can just tell you now that what it looks at 1 month is TOTALLY different from what it looks like now. I've added a ton more livestock, more LR, and rearranged everything.

here's a teaser, it's under 1x32w actinics with whitebalance on the camera:

the green candy cane is usually much bigger than the pic. that pic is the middle top of my tank and it's pretty messy as of this moment...very messy...bleh

::7.5g Shallow Display tank::

Right now I'm taking most of the zoos that aren't attached and all the LPS that are on the sandbed to another display tank that's 7.5g 24Lx6Hx12.5W tank with an on the side refugium. it'll be using an orbit 2x65w PC, 50w heater, 2 mini pumps, araglive fiji pink sand, and kaelini cured show rock. Already have everything...except the tank....blah. i'll keep yall update.

thanks for visiting!

oh and here's a pic of my armageddons just for kicks:

The pics you have in your nano-reef.com gallery don't allow direct linking. At least not normally. I'm not sure why one of them is loading, but the others aren't. However this is probably we're all seeing red x's. You'll have to host them someplace that allows it, put them with your other pics on the UT site, or if they're small enough just upload them directly from your computer by attacthing them to your posts.

In the meantime here are the URLs for the ones that didn't load for me. You'll probably have to cut and paste each one into a new browser window. Very very nice setup.

It's really beautiful.

How do you like the black sand?

I tried it for a bit in a 10g, but I couldn't keep it looking black. Detritus kept getting on it and making it look more salt/pepper. It irritated me enough that when we moved I dumped it out, and didn't restart it.

yup B! i hear ya on the black sand being more salt/pepper and not just plain black.
my tolerance for it is sort of fading but for the most part i don't mind the detritus, just as long as i take a turkey baster and blow the detritus off to one side. ;-)

thanks for the compliment, i'll try to update on what the tank looks like with the MH.

oldie acan updates. took these pics with my boyfriend's fancy camera since i forgot mine at Houston. i can't quite figure out how to take the blue yet...but here they are:

i'm getting more this week and next. they really colored up under metal halides...but i moved them to my new shallow display tank which has 2x65pc and they lost some of their coloring but hopefully they'll brighten up again. i'm probably going to end up adding 2x55w or just 55w to help it along.

 my zoo tank crashed while i was on a one week vacation due to an automatic top off failure.

anyhoo my shallow display tank is doing fine. here are some pics from there:

took these with digital macro and whitebalance under actinics.

naw sorry djconn. i usually do my 'diving' online. coral prices in austin are too overpriced, i gotta go check out some lfs later but yeah most of my corals are from online. i don't think i've ever bought anything local except RO water and LR. lol :langle

here are some more pics!

first the shallow display (sorry for the bluriness, it's due to excessive scratches on the acrylic):

all this has been moved to the jebo (that had crashed and i just fixed up)

the Jebo all redone, sand, more cycled LR and under 150w MH

more pics later![/img]
