hay everyone, just wanted to share some info on aquapod tanks. I have found out from the company they are save to be drilled, the bottom of the tank is not tempered. so with this said, i am now looking to be building a sump for my tank as soon as i can figure this out. I have been looking all over the web but not coming up with any good ideas. If anyone on here has any ideas i am more than welcome to here them and if you any pictures that would be great too.

I have drilled a couple of tanks.

What info do you need? How to set up a sump??

This is a link to and ebay store that has very cheap but reliable hole saws that can cut glass.

they sell the same diameter in pairs also. I purchased the 38mm bits and installed 25mm bulkheads. (that is the plumbing part you need to penetrate the glass without leaks)

this is a youtube clip that shows the building of a fairly stock standard sump set up.

im tring to figure out if i want to drill the drain hole in the bottom of the tank or in the back and if i want to remove the back plastic filter wall inside the tank or just leave it in and work with that in place. by removing it, i will gain a few inchs of move. as far as the sump tank goes i see alot of people have the baffle/dividers inside of them and i see people not having them in. my boss has a 100gal + tank and he runs a sump with no baffles in it, just a filter sock and thats all and he has all of the pumps, heater, chiller...etc and does water changes from here as well. I was thinking of doing the same idea but not sure? the only other problem i have is figureing what return pump i will need.

A maxijet 1200 would work fine for up to about 3-4 feet of straight up travel. You don't want TOO much flow on the return, that is what power heads are for. Or you can get inventive and make a closed loop system. LOL but that is a lot for a nano!

I would leave the baffle in the display (you need one for the drain to work effectively anyways. Do a search on durso pipes, stockman, and bean animals silent drain. Those should give a couple ideas to pick and choose from.
