in need of some help and advise please.
i have a 24 gal aquapod that has been up and running for about 8 months now. i took this tank off of my brothers hands. Im looking to be up-grading the ph on this and wanting to change the filtration system on this. i dont like the sponges this as i dont think they do a good enough good on this. My brother also has add a canister filter as well. only two holes drilled in the hood thank god lol. i have thinking of blocking off all the inlets on the one side besides the one at the surface and puting live rock back there. this tank only has two comparts. the tank is still up and running now and i dont want to take the tank down to do any big mods. i have seen some pix on here with live rock and some green plant on top of it, not sure if this is better way to go or not. any help would be great

Do a search for refugium.

this is the 'plants on top' system.

It is macro algae that is used to use the excess nutrients in the water so that they can be removed by cutting back the algae and removing it from the tank.

I think removing as much of the filter sponge as you can is a great idea. Bioligical filtration, ie live rock and Deep Sand Beds are a better way to process nitrates IMO.

Welcome to the forum, we would love to see pics of your tank and inhabitants.

Yup, I use chaetomorpha on top of my live rock in chamber 2. I did notice it does receive some ambient light from my lighting fixture but I did supplement a submersible LED just in case. :) I've had it for...what...over a month now, and it appears fine.

Welcome!
