Aquacultured corals and fish

Hello all.

I have decided to take advantage of this section by posting about environmental issues relating to coral reefs. We are all involved in a hobby that sets out to recreate these naturally occurring ecosystems, so we should have some understanding as to what is taking place within them.

So let's discuss the benefits and importance of choosing propagated or “tank-raisedâ€

I agree 100% with this, its kinda funny, we were talking about the ocean envirnment and the effects that humans have on fish and coral in my environmental science class on friday.

This is difficult for some people because it is cheaper to buy wild-caught fish and some lfs do not carry captive raised fish, also some fish are not tank breed but if u have the choice to by, i would go for the captivly raised one

Great article Jesse, I buy CB fish and farmed corals whenever I can. Keep up the good work. BTW, I was not aware of some of the stats you posted.
