Anyone here have an organic vegetable garden?

So I finally have a backyard big enough to try a small vegetable garden. I've just put in my tomatos, capistrano peppers, anaheim peppers, jalapeno peppers, mint, rosemary and basil. Will probably add broccoli and cabbage a little later. This will be an organic garden fueled strictly by compost (manure) and my own compost pile.

Anyone else into growing vegetables? If so, what are you growing?

Right now all that's left is my two tomato plants, Roma and cherry, which are both producing really nice tomatoes. My green pepper plant isn't fairing too well, but my jalepeno plant os full of peppers. We've gotten quite a few already. Slcie them in half, stuf them with cream cheese and bake them for about 20 min at 400 degrees. Yum!

my uncles fathern law has a nice garden. he is a shrimper so all the heads and other parts are throwin into the garden. He has amazing size cucumber, tomatoes, and other thing.

I love gardening. The ex got the house and that is how I ended up into saltwater. It is the result of a frustrated (nearly castrated) gardener. Reefs are just like gardening. I had a small orchid with dwarf fruit trees. She went out there after the divorce and cut them down with a hand axe. Heard she had rototilled the garden. It's a wonder she didn't burn down the house. CRAZY

Yeah, its pretty crazy just how similar gardening is to reefing. I often find myself at the nursery thinking to myself just how much that certain plant looks like a coral...

SM - your stuffed jalepeno peppers sound great. I'm going to try that when they mature. :mrgreen:

Well, it was a real long and HOT summer here in Texas so everything flowered really late. Needless to say, we got nailed by that last front that came though and temps dipped into the 20s. This is what I salvaged...not bad for my first time :mrgreen:

I live in a warehouse so I won't be gardening anytime soon, well other than hydroponics but that's what my tank is for! My rics and xenia are the only things really taking off.

If I could I would, I need a yard, with all the sunshine out here I'm sure I could have some wicked produce. I'm sure the soil needs work though, very sandy. I'd have to find my old txt on soils, probably the most boring but important subject I ever studied.

Nice!! My dad has an organic garden back home in Hawaii. I used to hate it when i was little because punishment for being bad meant pulling weeds. haha. But it's awesome. He grows corn, bananas, chili peppers, tomatoes. eggplants, beans, chinese cabbage, all types of vegetables, usually cycling them to recycle the nutrients in the ground. It was nice to have because we got our veggies from there and only worried about getting meat and fish from the market. He uses cow dung and chicken poop for fertlizer.
