i got a question.

i was trying to find a certain ballast and every shop around told me i have to get a electrician to order it for me, but since then i found a site that will sale it to me. Im doing total DIY on my MH. I have to guy a ballast and mogul socket. the wireing will be all DIY no prewired or wire harness.

It is tempting...But I wouldn't do it unless it was for a frag tank. I don't like the 6500k bulbs. They're too yellow for me. At least for a display tank.
I've wanted to try this since finding the thread a couple weeks after it started.

well the yellow was a issue but the PARs for that bulb is the best and it will bring you better color and growth in the corals. If you add say 2 acintic VHOs it cuts down the yellow.

I plan on addint either 2 or 4 vhos also. If i go with two ill run one acintic in the front and one in the back. If its 4 then its 2 front 2 back. It still has a yellowish color but whats more important - the way it looks to you or how healthy the corals are? the bulb next in line as far as pars is the XM 10K. But when you working part time and paying for full time college you go with what is cheapiest and works.
