LFS....I haven't ever had a problem finding them...You won't find them at a petco, or petsmart, but most of the decent ones will carry them.somethingcorp904 said:man thanks so much ...when you say 100 micron sock...were would i get this at..
I was going to mention Mike using this, but then he'd have to go out and buy a new filter which can be kind of expensive. If figured trying the cheap solutions first would be better...He'd probably be better off spending the money on more liverock to break up the flow patterns than a filter that's only going to get used occasionally. But that's a total subjective call.dragon79 said:Here's something that should help you out tremdously. My brother documented it well with pictures and everything.
It's the H.O.T. Magnum

Read and hopefully it can help you out during this time.
Yep this happens when you add too much calcium. The water can't absorb anymore so it starts to precipitate out....You have to add a LOT of calcium though.poohmarie said:Just a question for you, Have you been adding any calcium?
I had a issue with my tank somewhat like yours and it's called a "snowstorm".
I'd go get a micron sock and stick it over the return. It'll probably cost somewhere between $5-$10. Like I said if the water clears up, then you probably need to spend some money on more rock which will help break up the flow from the PH, if it's kicking the substrate up. Or you can DIY some kind of flow difuser....Like a piece of PVC with lots of holes drilled in it. This should be relatively cheap, again like $5-$10 at most. If the micron sock clears the water, and you build a difuser and the problem comes back, then you simply have some very fine particulate and you'll need to add something in your filter area to help strain it out of the water. The magnum filter only works if it's hooked up to your tank. Since you've got a nanocube there's no good way to leave it on the tank permenantly, so I wouldn't go out and get one, unless you just have money to burn. Mike gets great results from his...I do to for that matter, but it's not something that sits on our tanks all the time. It goes on, runs for a few hours or days, then comes back off. This won't help with your problem. No matter what go ahead and do a water change. It's not gonna hurt anything, and you'll be able to suck at least a small amount of the floating crap out of the water while you're at it.somethingcorp904 said:so incysor...what would you do in my situation...because if i dont have to buy that piece ...i wont....
Just call around to the pet stores. They're more likely to have it than a walmart or chain pet store. If you don't have any luck there, you might try nurseries that have pond supplies as well.somethingcorp904 said:hah thanks so much for helping me out ....you guys ahve all beeen so much help...yea i wish someone lived in jacksonville that could help!!!!...anyways...this micro sock...do i just purchase it at like wal mart..or a pet store....i hope i get this taken care of asap..because i want to start on a 6g for my room!..im addicted

Would be cool to fly out incysor with the "shrimp" issue I am having, lol. Dr. Incysor hehe.incysor said:Can I just say I don't believe we've got over 3 pages of posts because of a silt problem. I wish you lived in Houston, I'd just go take a look at it.
