Well as some of you might know I mentioned a while back that I was going to possibly be upgrading to a 20h well the upgrade has been done this past weekend all in all it went pretty smoothly other then the whole waiting time for the water to clear being that I added some more sand. but that was about the only headach I ran into. so Ill post some new pics I know the back ground isnt the best but wait till you see my plans for that :strip

no I plan on adding one I was going to go with the plain old black or blue but I have decided on doing something else I am going to use like a teal transparnet plastic like the kind you put on easter baskets then backing that with foil to give it a shine the mounting them on something stiff like a piece of cardbord or something like that I think it should be pretty cool. next process in the upgrade is the light I am runing 96w quad corlife right now but I would like to upgrade to a MH like this one
http://www.aquatraders.com/index.asp?Pa ... ProdID=276
but that will be a couple of weeks down the road.

amf,
nice tank!
about your light choice though - i try to make it a general policy in life not to speak badly about things/people i don't know, but there is intuitively something wrong with those aquatrader lights. first off they are real cheap which tells me they are made with cheap components or residential type stuff not specifically designed for aquarium use, second none of the major brands that i know of makes a 175 DE bulb for aquariums - 70's, 150's and 250's are the norm - 175's are SE! like i said though i have never dealt with them or their products but have seen their ads many times and they make me believe something is wrong. i'm not saying don't buy it - just maybe research and see what others think about them first.

I agree with J & D, there is something that strikes me as a big warning flag with these folks. I have heard good things about www.illuming.com if you can consider a retrofit as opposed to a fixture. I would stick with a tried and true company otherwise. Just my .02.

yeah I do like illuming but I want to try and stick with an open top design I dont want another canopy like I had on the 10 but I am looking at other options and doing some research on aquatraders and the products to see what I can come up with. I will let you all know what I find out.

well found a girl that ordered the same metal halide from aqauatraders.com and she had trouble with the ballast and it took her 2-3 months to get the replacement and then it still wasnt right she had to order another bulb from another company then it was finally in working order and also the 175 watt they try to pass it off as is actually a 150 so needless to say that choice is out of the question so now I am looking at a more tired and true product the corlife metal halide series being I am running corlife now and have not had any trouble with it since day one. so will keep everyone posted on the out come.

thanks to everyone that steered me clear of a headach in the making! :D
