Anemone or zoanthid?

Somebody posted on another site, a pic of a zoa or anemone similar to this but brown in colour a couple of months ago. Not sure of the final answer.
I remember at the time that I responded that mine had not multiplied and I didn't think that they could be a threat.

Well I have since been feeding this colony the same meaty foods that I feed my LPS and the colony seems to be reproducing fairly fast.

The polyps that get the most food grow very quickly, double in a week. Until they reach the size of a 10c piece max.

Smaller ones pop up with no visible attachment to the parent.

I am not worried at this point as I know that they are not harming anything but I think I will stop the feeds.

If anyone has an ID, i'd love to know what it is.

Thanks

As far as I know, a zoa will have usually have two rows of tentacles, without any around the mouth (looks like what you have there). Anenomes will have 8 or more, radiating in closer proximity from the mouth.

So, I'm guessing you have polyps there my friend. :strip

That looks to me like a flower anemone, flower rock anemone, Phymanthus crucifer, whatever you want to call it.

Here is a picture of a Phymanthus crucifer for comparison...

I'd be very cautious. My friend had that same stuff and in no time it was all over his tank. It was a weed. It spread to every rock, in the sand and soon crowded everything out. Don't mean to scare you, but it infested everything. If you see it popping up in unusual places, I'd get rid of everything it was on.

I'm not too worried as they have been in my tank for 12 months with no growth until I started target feeding.

I have fragged 2 polyps and I am target feeding them. Will let you know when something happens!
