Am I cycled?

I figured you were just relating to my experience. My addiction came up pretty fast too. I've only wanted a SW tank since my honey moon in fiji, July 06 and my wife got me one for Christmas and has regreted it ever since. Now she hates my 60 gallon. hate actually isn't a strong enough word. I've put so much time into it doing things and then redoing them because I did it wrong the first time.

What are your plans for the 29? Fish, coral, etc?

I'm going to recreate finding Nemo as best possible in my 60(Maybe). I don't think I'll be able to come by a great white or a hammer head though. I'm thinking about a California sting ray as long as I can get my LR up off the sand so it has plenty of room to roam. I've been told an 80 is really minimum for them so maybe not.

ooo a stingray sounds awesome!! yeah, i want like a 240 gallon tank someday, full reef setup.

my plans for the 29 are a few clownfish, and maybe an anemone, but its my understanding that they need LOTS of light, and i guess that my bio cubes lighting cant hang with that, but well see. i might have to modify the lighting, my LFS is highly knowledgeable about equipment, and shes the resident nanoreefist, so i take her advice seriously. but i just want a few clownfish, a few shrimp, a goby or two, and some hermit crabs. i dont want to crowd the tank, but im super eager to add more stuff to my tank. i'm not sure if im ready to go the coral route yet, i think that might be my next venture, pending that i can actually maintain this tank!

lol god i hope i dont kill that poor damsel, because this operation is ALL me, not my boyfriend! im the one thats been testing the water and topping it off, etc. just gotta get this algae problem taken care of.

It's only been a week right? the algae will go away if it's diatom. you can stir the sand a little to get it off but your hermit crabs will clean up the rock real well. Mine were like little lawn mowers. there were lines cut through the algae and they'd just keep going back and forth till it was gone. about two days and two little guys had it all cleaned up. You've got more rock then I though. #1 thing to remember is patience. You go too fast and you create problems. from what I understand hermits are actually fine with Nitrates and since you have a fish in there already you might want to add a couple crabs to start working on it. This might be a bad idea and it might be a good idea. I don't really know.

awesome tank, i really like it! i havent had time to take the pictures, but i will tell you this- i bought a few hermit crabs, a fire shrimp, and a clownfish yesterday. i introduced them to the tank, and the crabs ATE the shrimp, and the clownfish!!! horrible. so today, i called the LFS, and they told me i could bring the crabs back and they will help me pick out some other things that will be compatible for my tank setup. what a nightmare!!
