Howdy Guys

I have a 10 gal I'd like to try at Saltwater, is there a all in one unit I can hang on the back of this tank that does everything. And then I believe all I would need is a custom hood and some liverock live sand to get the cycling started?

when i started i used a aquaclear HOB power filter, AC500. filled it with LR rubble. 15 pds sand , same for LR. cyled for a month or so. then started regular water changes.......

I thought it was easy to use AC500 like Erik suggested since I began with one myself. But I'd create a custom hood since its basically a easy dimension and get a DIY retro fit kit, then again thats if your good at DIY. If so take precaution on the size of the AC500 and the fixture that would be on it when the hood gets created. For lighting, what are you looking for? And what corals do plan to keep?

there are acouple companies that have 20" fixtures that fit nicely over the ten gallon tank.

Hey Eric

Do any of these come with mounts and timers? Also on the HOB filter, all I have sen from Aquaclear is the Powerfilter series, would one of these work?

Thanks. Thats the filter I picked up and running right now.

The water is cycling and hopefully I can put in the liverocks in a few hours. Now, time to find a hood/light combo.

Can you put a glass top over the tank and then the light a distance above that? I dont want things escaping or crawling out of the tank. Thanks.

you can put a glass top on the tank, but in dong that you are likely to have heat issues. i run open tops on all my tanks and havent had anything crawl out but i did have one fish try to walk.
