Aiptasia?

Hi. Could someone please confirm if this is an Aiptasia? This has been in my 12 gallon nanotank since I started it almost 2 months ago (I inherited the tank and a few leftover pieces of live rock, corals, polyps, etc. from a neighbor who upgraded to a 24 gal). It has not caused harm as far as I can tell. If needed, I'll go out and get Joe's Juice to take care of it.

Im not sure what it is exactly, but I am almost positive that it ISN'T aiptasia.

It doesn't look like asipsia to me either, can you get a better picture of it zoomed in?

kind of looks like feeding tenticle from a LPS of some sorts.

What LPS?

It's difficult to get a picture, since the tentacles are clear. The tentacles are able to retract into a base piece (kind of like how a feather duster can) that is fused with the rock. I guess it is safe to assume that it is not an anemone because this thing is permanent and not able to move.

Large Polyp Stoney coral...........or it could be a tube anenome......not sure until we can get a better pic....until then its a mystery :twisted: :evil: :mrgreen:

Don't think it's aiptasia, but a better macro shot would be helpful.

That is DEFINITELY not aiptasia. That looks that a skeleton of some sort of LPS... it honestly looks like a torch coral on it's very last "breathe".

It is really a mistery but you can see the skeleton of something with feeding tentacles out or something might be a LPS 4 sure... and defenetly not an aptasia.

i would try target feeding it to what it grows into......you might have something cool and dont even know it. definitly not aiptasia.
