this is his UV sterilizer....plumbing it as we speak. is this over kill? i have never done any research on UV sterilizers. how long shouid he run it each day? this tank is going to be mostly a fish only tank.
Some people use them, but they seem to be in the minority. I haven't read anything that would lead me to believe that they'll hurt anything, but I haven't had any real reason to put one on any of my systems, so until one basically gets handed to me for free I probably won't mess with it.
Far in the future, (or if I win the lottery), I'll probably have one if I do a truly large setup.
we have it plumbed and hanging off the side of the refugium.....not running it yet. triing to decided weither we should run it all the time or at night or in the day. any advice would be great.....thanks
is he going to put any kind of a backing on it? it would make it harder for maintenence and moving things inside the tank since work is done from behind. but would give a much better appearance from the front. maybe he could make something that's easily removable and replacable. nice tank!
not sure yet.....thinking of making the backside all finished off like cabinets. so the whole thing looks like a wall, but then you open a door and there is everything.
very nice - like your choice of light set. one comment though I imagine you just kinda placed the corals where they are sitting for now but that light is pretty bright. I would move the shrooms down they'll expand more and the maze up???? maybe usually like a bit more light. The euphids you'll have to play with, they may be a little high for now (light shock) but you'll find the spot (light/current) where they open the best. those palys are huge though they must like it there -- good work!!!
john your absolutly right....we kind of placed them where ever, before we got that fixture. now that we have that light we'll be doing some rearranging.
the biggest pain in the ass is aquascaping it since you cant do it from the front. so what we've been doing is my buddy directs from the front while i try to figure out where he wants it all.lol. its actually quit funny if you where there to see it.
yea I've heard that about built in wall tanks before and can picture the scene......lol I find it hard to place it in that exact right spot when I can see It's probably to late but what some have done is build a cabinat door on the front side of the tank that opens upward and hooks to the ceiling then you can aquascape, clean the glass, whatever from the front, and when its closed it matches the rest of the wall....just a thought very nice set up though and it will look awesome when completed
thanks john......likewise with your tank....very insperational. the thought crossed my mind about the front, having a door is possible. just never really acted on it.
