Okay guys and gals,
Check this out. My LFS calls me and tells me my tank is ready for pickup. So I go there after work Friday excited and see the tank, it looks sweet and then my LFS says check the light cause I only saw one 27 watt light and didn't see the 9 watt actinic.
Man I was like mad because I was ready to go and set it up. So he calls CPR who is based out in Vallejo Ca. They end up telling him that they no longer make the 36 watt version and that this is the substitute tank for me.
I get on the phone and say hey this is not what I ordered and I didn't pay close to 300 dollars for something that was false advertised on your website.
They tell me we are sorry, we are a small company with only 16 employees and that the tank is as is. They told me that the lighting company they use went bankrupt and they couldn't find another company fast enough to equal the 36 watt version, so they went with a 27 watt 50/50.
I was like so I lose 9 watts of power because of you guys? They said you can get your money back from you LFS and we are sorry. I said you better remove that false advertisement on the website. They said it takes them a while because they are contracted out to someone that does their website.
Apparently because so many orders came in they couldn't go with a replacement light at 36 watts in such short time. They went with what they could at that time. (Bad business) !!!!
So I'm there at my LFS and think well the tank is here I'll mode it out with Chris at nanocustoms in the future so 27 watts is okay.
So I purchase 20lbs of live sand and 5 gallons of steinhart water and leave after being on the phone for more than 1 hour with these fools.
I get home and drain my 3.5 tru vu and aquascape the CPR to perfection adding the live sand and the live rock. I place the heater and pump and temp gauge. Man the tank is looking awesome and I'm so happy.
I just need to pure in the salt water and I start filling up my awesome little tank. I get all the way to the top and then I hear all this water dripping like crazy hiting my brand new furniture night stand !!!
What the hell, I think to myself I poured too much water in !!! and it's overflown, hell no, the entire seam at the bottom of the tank has given way to the pressure and is shooting saltwater all over my night stand and on my pearl white new carpet.
I run to the closet and pull out 4 big bath towels to obsorb the water while I siphon the water back into the jugs. Man I must of swallowed enough salt water to become a saltwater puffer fish myself.
I was boiling pissed and called my LFS he says man I'm so sorry bring the tank down and that I can deal with them on Monday or just get credit at his store.
I was so happy to get rid of this stupid tank and it's really bad customer service. I end up purchasing another 12 gallon JBJ so I can have softies and LPS tank in my bedroom.
I saw that the 6 gallon nano is out but the lighting is too small 18 watts doesn't cut it for me, that's the reason I took down the Tru Vu. So I pass on this tank and I'm really happy with the 12 in my bedroom.
I'll have pictures up soon and you'll see a totally diferent setup from my SPS 12 gallon cube. This one will have a huge sand bed to play with, I love the amount of run I have for sand. I went with little live rock to incorporate this look.
The only modd I will do for this tank is the addition of two 10 watt 03 actinics. Nothing more nothing less.
My advise on the CPR is, buy at your risk but I kid you not the horrible experience I had with them. They are really bad customer services, one of the worse I have had in a really long time.
Go with JBJ when my tank had a scatch they sent me a new one in less than 4 days and let me keep the old one they even paid for the shipping. Now thats awesome customer service.
