35mm

Just wanting to know if any of you have used your 35mm for tank photos?

I have a digital camera and love taking pictures. To be honest with you it sure is a convenience to have digital but I have to say that my SLR Canon 35mm gives way better everyday pictures.

I watched a very interesting show the other night about photography and many hard core photographers are saying there is nothing that beats the 35 mm film camers. No digital out there even comes close to the full size SLR's I find this very interesting indeed.

Hmm...I know several professional photographers. Most of them are using DSLRs almost exclusively. I know a few years back they were playing with digital but still shooting film, but in the last few years the DSLR's have gotten better and the printing processes from digital formats has improved dramatically. How old was the program you were watching? Perhaps it was a couple years old. Or perhaps they just didn't air interviews with photographers that felt that digital was equal to or better than film. A lot of it has to do with what you're shooting, and what you're going to do with the finished product. I have artist/photographer friends that think that daguerreotype photography still produces better images than any other type of camera. Personally I don't agree, but it's THEIR art, and part of their creative process so my opinion doesn't really matter. :D

What incysor said. I heard the issue about DSLR's not being up to par with 35mm, but I think DSLR's have now surpassed 35mm cams. Digital is just so much better. You point, shoot and edit. You can do so much since it is digital. Whereas if it's hard copy (ewww) you are limited and you have to go through so much more of a process before you can even start editing the pics. By then, its in somone else's hands and your left with god knows what kind of quality.

I have had a few of my photos printed out by a professional company here and honestly, I can't see a difference between digital and film. I can do much more with digital than film. For instance, I love taking panoramic shots. I usually take 10 shots which is about 20 megs worth of data. You can't do that on a film camera without the correct film, camera and then some.

Anyways, I grew up with digital. Never played around with film much. Its my way of life and I wouldn't change it! :cool1:

I like my 35mm for certain things (outdoor nature shots) but I would assume that a good Dslr would be just as good. I just cannot bring myself to spend 1200 or so on a good DSLR body and when I do I will probably go with minolta so that I can use my lenses from my 35mm.
Once i get this last roll of film developed I will see how the 35mm did with tank photos.

That's the thing with the DSLRs, same as film SLRs, you need to be careful about choosing something you like, because you're quickly going to have more money wrapped up in lenses than in the camera itself. You're choosing a whole system, not just a camera. This is why you have guys/gals with all nikon, canon, etc... equipment.

I think when the cameras get to a certain level, it basically comes down to what 'feels' good in YOUR hands.

Canon does own the digi cam world... Nikon owned the 35mm world. I have a Canon EOS 10D digital SLR as well as a couple Nikon F5 35mm bodies. Canon basically started the digital SLR revolution, Nikon has barely entered the marketplace. Most media photographers are using DSLRs now... usually the Canon 1DS and its pricey. The benefit of using a "digital darkroom" just makes DSLRs so much more practical. And now that Kodak has given up in the film realm, the only 35mm film producer is Fuji. So embace the revolution, 35mm will be a thing of the past soon.

Canon dslr is an awsome camera. I have the 35mm also so I am able to switch out all my lenses! I love canon and recommend them to everyone. You can get the 6.3mp for around 600 bucks.
