sorry i didn't see your message before. The pump below just adds more water flow to my tank. It adds around 900 GPH more flow. If you don't do a refugium then I recommend atleast adding a closed loop system to any tank 20+gallons. It will help tremendously.

the line across the top of your tank with the holes drilled in it.... Is that your return from your closed loop? I have a Mag 9 as well and looking at the picture thought maybe a few more holes might be needed to really take full advantage of the pump and what it's capable of.

Just a thought. I've got a 1-1/2" line hooked up to mine and there is a lot of water flowing through that thing.

your tank looks good. :D

yeah the white bar is a spray bar. I have 11x Ø.25 holes across the front face and 11x Ø.375 holes across the bottom that spray down the back of the tank. The area of the holes very closely match the area of a Ø1.5" pipe so I'm getting the max flow that I can get through the holes. The main issue with my closed-loop setup is that it's not setup to use the max diameter pipe that is recommended by the manufacturer. I can't really go any larger pipe because I need my HOB filter and that's about the only location that it will fit. The tank is looking a little bare on the right side. I just can't get anything to grow out over there without someone knocking everything over. I'm thinking of getting some glue and anchoring a few pieces of coral on the rocks. Thanks for the feedback.

BTW...xenia grows like a freakin weed.

Just to add an update.

Coral growth is going well. I started with 1 red mushroom in April and now have 4. Xenia has expanded along with the green star polyps. I've decided that I'm not going to totally fill this tank full of coral and just let the frags that I have grow out. While I love the look of a tank full of coral, I love watching the coral grow even more. I do have a few more pieces of coral planned out but waiting to come across some frags that are appealing.

Current inhabitants:

2 oc clowns
1 six line wrasse (added today and actually gets along with the clowns)

Xenia
Green star polyps
Red mushroom
Zoas (Orange & green)
Ric (orange & blue)
Finger Leather
Frogspawn (starting to branch...woot)

I will post some pics later tonight if i get a chance
