29g BioCube Sump Problem

Hello All- Newbie to the site, just set up my first saltwater tank, biocube 29. Im noticing that sometimes it will start to gurgle, and the only way i can get that to stop is to move the filter in the third chamber, to get the gurgling sound to stop in chamber 1. Is this normal? I believe that i have enough water in the tank, so not sure what i should do?

I have the 29 gallon, I had the same issue... when the filter pad was very dirty... the water gets pumped out of the last chamber faster then the water gets though the pad.

29 GAL BIOCUBE

I set my tank up on Dec. 21st and have had that problem every since. The only way that I can get it to stop is to remove all filters, but when I do this the water looks like it is snowing with all the debris floating around. I have, also, widened the opening where the water enters the second chamber, but this has had limited success. My latest partial success has been to add more water in the second chamber to compensate for the uneven water levels in the three chambers. That has helped some. Now my latest problem is that the biomechanical filter that fits in the first chamber gets clogged up in less than a days time. At least it is clearing the water somewhat, but if I am not diligent, it clogs up and the pump starts emiting bubbles galore.

Please keep me informed as to what all you frind out about this problem.
This is definitely a design problem that I think Oceanic needs to correct.

I solved this problem by turning the 2nd chamber into a refug... I took out the filter and just filled the first chamber with live rock... I found a light that fits under the flap in the back so, I didn't have to modify anything. It's been running about a week now.

Thank you!

Sounds good. I can get it to stop by addint more water to the 2nd chamber. It seems to me that when the water level goes down on the side of the tank, it starts to do the whole air bubble gurgling stuff. So i guess i just have to keep pouring more water in there, so the levels go back up. I tested the water, and it seems to be doing ok. I have a damsel in the tank to try and cycle it better, seems to be working, the fish is alive, and eating, so thats a good sign! :)

Thanks all for your help!!
