25 Gal Start up

Hi, I've had this tank collecting dust for months and finally fired it up over the weekend.

I'll be posting pics and progress as it happens. I've been keeping saltwater for close to 10 years and have had a couple of reefs as well. It's been about 2 years since I've had anything so I'm psyched.

It's going to be a softie/shroom tank.

Wish me luck!

it's a 25g plexiglass
Remora skimmer
Satellite 80w powercompacts

25lbs of Live rock and 30lbs of live sand.
cleanup crew to be added likely late next week.

Right now there's an aptasia and 3 tiny starfish

Alright, it's been what, a month now?
Here are some new pics. This tank cycled in like a week - I guess I got lucky.

Full tank Shot... not too exciting. But slow and steady is the way to go.

I added snails and hermits a couple weeks ago, then some mushrooms and 2 ORA false percs.

Here's a story for you. I went to the LFS and saw what they had. My wife wanted to pick a couple corals, so I told her to stick with any mushrooms from a particular tank in there and it would be okay.

She got the mushrooms and this...

She said she told the guy the size of our tank and how old (NEW) it is. She asked asked if this LTA would be good to add now and he said yes :hmm3:

So back it went! Very sad. I explained this to one of the proprietors on the phone before I brought it back. She was as stunned as I about this. This LFS, and the 2 owners are great - knowledgeable, keep there stuff healthy and are nice. But this employee needs to do some homework...

Down the road, @ least 6 months I may consider a BTA, we'll see.

Any comments would be appreciated.

25 GALLON TANK

Totally awesome! Beautiful pictures. My tank is coming along, but I do not have as many corals as you do.

Thanks for the nice comments. I did have to big bumps.

1) The original 2 clowns died - I got them from a LFS that is fantastic, but all the clowns they got in this batch didn't make it. I called ORA and they said it was likely a bacterial infection that developed during shipping.
I waited a few weeks and got this new pair from petco.

2) I had red slime bad (gone now for about 2 months) - I was overfeeding. I'd been out of the hobby so long I didn't know how much to feed! I ended up having to use erithromycn (SP) at half the recommended dose to get rid of it.

Everything is growing, which awsome. The Xania is about 3-4X as big as when I got it, same with the zoas and torch.
I am going to go even slower adding new corals. I want to see these grow out a bit to figure what and where new aditions could go.

The cleaner shimp seems to molt evey couple weeks and has grown a lot.

Besides the clowns, everything else that I've put in the tank has stayed healthy. I'd sure like to keep it that way. :D
