RE:

Hi sadielynn,

Tank looks good,

What type of anemone is it? How long have you had it in your 2.5G nano with your clownfish?

I was thinking of trying one in my 2.5G nano. My LFS has a real small BTA with a baby clown, but I know they will get bigger and I will have to move them to a bigger tank.

I have had the anemone for about 3 months and already it is ready to to go back to the store , it is what is knowna a pac white anemone , heteractis crispa (sebae) there is some conflict to whether or not white is a natural color and from what I have read it can be . He has gotten very big and I havenoticed that the clown loves to lay in hm and feed him so he is fed well , and while this type anemone is not a particullary fast grower it doesnt take much to out grow a 2.5 . He is planted firmly so moving him poses quite th challenge , that could prove to be fatal if a foot is torn . I would say avoid them the need lots of light and a tank that has been up and stable for atleast 6 months (mine has been up since june 04 ) if they die they can nuke the tank and will out grow a 2.5 gallon in a matter of weeks , maybe months and while the symbotic relation ship is cool it is not need to keep a clown . What kind of light do you have on your tank how long has it been up . HOpe this helps

Sadie,
What light and filter are you using on the tank? If you were starting another 2 1/2 would you go with anything different equipment wise? Just curious, Skip

I am using an 18 watt pc 50/50
If I were to start another tank I would use a larger light with better output ratings . I probably would not go with an anenome due to the size tank just because it doesnt take much to out grow that size tank .The filter is a penguin 100 with out the biowheel run with carbon and 1/2 unit chemi pure
Other than that I am happy with the set up . As for longterm I am not sure how long an anenome would live , but with the ones that I have had they seem to do fine it is just a matter of out growing the tank so quickly

Sadielynn,

I love your setup and the aquascaping.
Very nice light fixture; Perfect match for your tank.

Hello! I'm trying to get a pico tank started as well (my first) and i found a nice little 2.5 tank at my local Petco. I was wondering what Make/Model your lighting system is and where I may be able to purchase one (if online?) Much thanks! Btw. I agree with the other posters, I like how the tank looks (I'm modeling my setup after yours).

:-D

I bought an 11 inch PC fixture off of EBay that came with a 50/50 bulb and stands for $26 including shipping that fits great. It is a Jebo fixture and the stands are even the flip type so you can move the light out of the way when working on the tank.
