If it's a tulip, it's very unhappy.

This is what they look like when they're happy.

I'd say that's probably some type of zoo, or polyp. I'd put it in your tank where it can get more light and food. If it turns out to be an unhappy tulip, or majano, it'll be pretty easy to kill off as long as it's just one or two.

Thanks for the compliments. I'd sell you a couple if you want them. Anyone know the best/cheapest way to ship them?

Jennie sent some tulips to me via USPS priority mail and I got the package within 2 days. Everything was nice and healthy. I would suggest a freezer gel pack just to keep temps down a little. A thermos would prob. be a good idea as well. I bet you could send them that route for under $6 total.

Where are you guys getting thermos, freezer packs, and a box cheaply enough that total cost with shipping would run me less than $6?

Nearly all my small box shipments have run closer to $10-$12, and that's without a thermos or freezer pack.

Nice tulips...and pictures too. Does that move? If not that would be great in my Pico. How big is that? It looks tiny from my point of view. They are very pretty.

I got a small cheapo thermos at walmart. The freezer pack I got at a LFS for free. A store here in SA gives them to me. I have a ton and I will bring you some if you want next time I'm in Htown B. I used a small shoebox size box I had laying around. It ran like $6.50 Priority Mail with tracking.

Lower the weight by using just one gelpack.

I guess it all depends on which shipping zone its in as well.

dj,

I may have to do some poking around this weekend at walmart/target/etc... Thanks for the info.

Master,

These guys are generally less than the size of a nickel individually. With feeding they can multiply pretty rapidly. I've got a few small patches in my main reef system, and I let them get totally out of hand in my octo tank, which is why I'm thinking about selling/trading them. They're sting doesn't appear to be anywhere near as powerful as an aiptasia, but they DO irritate some corals. I've got a mushroom, and a flower anemone that seem to be bothered by them, but I've got a couple leathers, and some palys that don't seem to mind them at all.

I've got a few in each of my tanks.

So they're doing fine under:

440w VHO w/ 1 x 175w 20k MH
96w 50/50pc
65w 50/50pc
32w 50/50pc

I don't target feed. They can move around pretty well, but once they pick a spot they tend to stay there. They've multiplied in my octo tank pretty quickly, but not nearly as fast in my other tanks.
