I haven't actually set up a tank yet but I am planning on a 12 gallon nano and I was thinking about getting 16 lbs. of live rock and a polyp 5 pack and for coral. FOr fish I was going to get one yellow clown goby and one green clown goby, and I was wondering if a black goby would be suitable too. I understand that I have to wait a while before putting fish in but I am just trying to get an idea

Well I don't know about compatibility of those fish but that would be the most I'd put in that tank. I personally would start with the two clown gobies and then work from there.

Yes the 3 gobies you mentioned are compatible. Just be sure to start with the rock first then add ur sand and water. That way the rock will be on the glass just in case someone digs under it so it wont collapse if it wasn't secure first. What are you doing about inverts?

I was going to put 2 scarlet hermit crabs in, a few turbo snails, and a few yellow tip hermits. DOes that seems acceptable, and should i put three fish in or just two.

You can put 3 in that system. I'd just put them in slowly so you don't crash your tank. I'd go with nasserius snails instead of turbos since they will actually stir the sand as well.

Up to you. There shouldn't be any earth shattering negatives to having the three as opposed to two. I only caution as you will want a more mature tank to handle the biological load for a tank with multiple inhabitants.

(I am notorious for under-stocking by others comparisons, I just prefer a cleaner environment in the tank - you know less is more kind of thing)
