Params are looking good. I'd recommend doing a water change before putting anything in the tank... I cant think of a single instance where clean fresh water isn't a positive thing... well unless your drowning in it but we'll save that conversation for another day. :mrgreen:

On one hand lava rock is super pourous... aside from not really having the buffering qualities mentioned above its probably a good host for bacteria and may work well as a supplement to live rock. Then on the other hand... EEK!!! What the heck is that red thing in your tank?!!! :mrgreen:

On my tanks that have a fuge they are integrated into the sump. If that's not an option... skip the fuge and get a nice HOB skimmer like a remora.

definitely go with the aquamedic. Not to knock the asian stuff but german engineering is in a different league... at least in regard to lighting. You'll be happy you did... I promise you that.

I hear you John. So more of a detailed explanation as to the functionality of each mod or componant and what is accomplished by the design. So instead of a "Hey look at me" type of deal like at RC. The real focus is for people to learn the science, reasoning, and specific funcionalities...

Yep I think this is a great idea. The innovation of this hobby is what really makes it great. We've got some pioneers here at NT it'd be cool to showcase em. What is your idea for documenting the systems? Start to finish? Already established systems? DIY buildups?

I was actually going to head over to marinedepot.com and grab the same link John just posted for the 150 watt version. I ran a 70watt pendant over my NC12 zoo tank and I always wished I had gone with the 150watt version. Those AquaMedic lights are awesome too. Definitely go with a 20k bulb...
