I would not worry about them, they help with cleaning stuff up in your tank, detrius, extra food etc.... leave them alone..

on my 10G I have no filter or skimmer, weekly 2 gallon water changes and directed water flow through live rock, agua scaping done to maximize surface area with water inlets. all my paramiters are perfect, and have been for months now, so......... until things change i.e. i wont change a thing.
