I have a 175w mh with a 10,000 ushio bulb and 2x32w actinic pc in a home made canopy over my 29g tank and i really like it but i getting ready to swap out the 32w for 2x65w actinics

yes you can screw this to a canopy, in fact you have to attach it to something. as far as plug and play goes you have to do some basic wiring but other that that its ready to go. what size tank are you planing on using this on and how many are planning on using?

yes most shrooms prefer shady areas if yours don't look happy move them till you find a spot they like

i agree skip the ugf it will just cause problems with nitrates, i would use the whisper to run filter floss and carbon/phosban as needed and add a couple powerheads to the tank for circulation

i'm just finishing up a external overflow on a 29g tank

i've done blue and black and i like the black better, i guess its just a matter of preference

i saw a thread somewhere describing how he built the canopy, the curved peice started out as a 3-4" block of wood and he cut the radious from the block

sweet set-up, did you drill the bottom yourself? i've always been leary of bottom drilling because some tanks have a tempered bottom although i have seen an AGA 29g drilled

unfortunatly Vermillion is about 4 hrs oneway but i did just discover a reef club starting up in Dayton and i got a couple leads on acouple nice stores in Columbus which is only 2hrs away so i think i may take a saturday and go check them out
