I use the Tropic Marin salt and it seems great, all my corals are growing and everyone seems to love the old water change!

    Clownfish Blotching

I already did 3 days worth of melafix as a precaution to no avail so i'm hoping it is stresss related... Erm, lighting wise there's 56W of lights which is nothing OTT imo, 24W White, 24W Blue, 24W Red... You don't think it might be because he's alone now? As he was before with about 10...

    Clownfish Blotching

Ok, well i've looked around the web and haven't really found anything that i can relate directly to this... My clownfish looks like it has blotches of darker skin on top of it, and it was present a couple of days ago (about 5) and i put it down to stress but it seems to be worsening. He's...

    Starting A Tank

Thanks for all the positive feedback. Only things i can suggest with taking pictures is make sure you have your camera on macro/super macro mode (or equip it with a macro lens if using an SLR) and try not to use flash (as it dulls the colour). If you are using an SLR try saving as RAW...

Jump in the Waters Fine - New Reefer

Is it gonna muck up my tank taking it out now though seeing as i've already added livestock? BTW it's not a "biowheel" as such it's a "bio active" which is like a weir wheel with sponge in the middle...But i believe it's doing the same thing...

    Planted Nano

To be honest you could keep them healthy but i don't think the fish would be happy if they were all crammed into a 3 gallon. . . I'd stick with either the cardinals or the cichlids, don't mix them... And if you go with the cichlids looks out for them breeding, as mine did in a community...

    Tank Size

Hmm, what are your normal prices over there for a specific stand for a fish tank, (about 3ft long)? If you have any idea that is? Yuh i planned on having the mechanical filter at one end of the tank for movement and a pump at the other... Are those stands you build Tim sturdy enough for...

The tank is like £50 - about $70 i think, and the stand (reinforced wood, proper aquarium stand) is normally £160-$200ish but i'm getting the pack for £150 - I think it's $250, someone may proove me wrong though...

Well i went to the LFS today and he's got a 3' by 1' by 1.5' tank plus stand for £150 on special, thing is it's his last one. So i was wondering whether you all thought this was a good price or not (probably about $250 USD). I then started inquiring about sump etc. and he said that a sump on...

I'm in NW London UK so some of the equipment some of you US guys can get is alot harder/more epensive over here... The sump will most likely be in a cabinet underneath the unit so yeh the same working space. A refugium is an area of organic filtration right? (Algae/Clans etc...) The other...

Ouch, how'd he manage that, sorry to hear... Is there a reason you're choosing not to replace him? I'm curious as to what filtration and setup you have on the tank, as im wondering what maximum stocking levels are really like rather than the advised... :?:

Yuh i intended on getting a tank big enough for a mandarin to live healthily in but as i understand the main concern is food source, and as far as im aware the mandarins my LFS can get take frozen brine alot as well... I think i understand what you're saying, a HOB, so would that mean i...
