    I have 3 actinics and 1 10K. i was using 2 actinics and 2 super actinic whites (50/50) I didnt like the pink look of the tank so i switch to the 3 blue and one 10K

    I agree about them failing but if you go with them i personaly like a SSB with a DSB in the refugium. 1-2Lbs of LR per gallon general rule of thumb. A way to save some $ would be to get a pump big enough to run the return and the skimmer, unless you go with a insump skimmer.

    lighting upgrade

    Im running 4 75 watt vhos over my 20L. you could go with 2 or 4. If you do 4 i would recomend you have them 5 to 8 inches from the surface.

    do you need corals in your tank - No. Most people like nanos with coarls so they have somthing more to look at since you cant have alot of fish in them. if you go with corals the type depends on your lights. If this tank is going to be fish only and no corals then all you need is normal output...
