I've had the Red Sea Prizm protein skimmer on my tank for over a year and a half now. Its been great so far but my only complaint was that it doesn't skim all the crud off the surface of the water. Red Sea sells a upgrade kit which is basically just the surface skimmer attachment for like $35...

Hmm...good question. Most people I talk to consider Xenia very hardy and say they grow like weeds in their tank and even require pruning. In my experience, Xenia is very sensitive to water parameters, etc and my last 2 frags have since 'melted' away. I will say that they are a great coral...
