    Another Fantastically Fish Find

Yeah, I've read a few of the chemistry articles by Randy Holmes-Farley, Ph.D before. Really good info on lots of different marine/reef related subjects. Nice find Flame!

How long to let homemade Kalk sit?

Okay, yeah I let it sit for 24 hours and its still a little 'milky' but I guess its ok. First time trying this so I'm just a little precautious I guess. I'm using the liquid and none of the precipitate. Thanks.

How long to let homemade Kalk sit?

Anyone here making their own Kalk out of pickling lime? I'm using Mrs.Wages pickling lime and I mixed it yesterday and was wondering if its ready to use because its still a little cloudy. I mixed 6 teaspoons to my 5 gal topoff bucket. There is a white coat on the surface which I plan to...

    Glacier RO water from Randalls/Safeway

Some more info from www.glacierwater.com: Glacier’s multi-stage filtration/treatment process with reverse osmosis reduces the levels of chlorine, gases and odors, bacteria, salts, lead, and other contaminants that can be found in ordinary tap water. Reverse Osmosis: A reverse...

    Glacier RO water from Randalls/Safeway

Well, after 1 1/2 years of fighting Houston traffic and driving 10-12 miles to my LFS to get simple RO/DI topoff water, I finally got smart. I've been reading how people use ordinary water from those Glacier vending machines at the supermarket and finally gave it a try. It says its RO water...

Where do you usually go for corals, supplies and equipment mystery guest? Only place I know about NW is Aquarium World which is the most expensive place I've ever seen in my life.

Add a surface skimmer to your filter or skimmer

I've had the Red Sea Prizm protein skimmer on my tank for over a year and a half now. Its been great so far but my only complaint was that it doesn't skim all the crud off the surface of the water. Red Sea sells a upgrade kit which is basically just the surface skimmer attachment for like $35...

    Kind of new

Ahh, finally got some live rock huh? Where'd you get it? How much was it per lb? Just keep doing weekly water changes and testing your water chemistry. You will learn soon (I'm sure you've already realized it) that patience is the key to a successful nano tank. Glad to hear everything is...

    Thermos Trading?

Hmm...good question. Most people I talk to consider Xenia very hardy and say they grow like weeds in their tank and even require pruning. In my experience, Xenia is very sensitive to water parameters, etc and my last 2 frags have since 'melted' away. I will say that they are a great coral...
