Phischy's Project PtIII: Actually have corals!

Nate delivered the rock Oct 13th so...I waited 64days to finally put corals in. This time last year is when I was doing the serious planning on my tank and getting my orders straight. Wow, that's a long time!

Phischy's Project PtIII: Actually have corals!

Hmm..also forgot about the green open brain coral that hasn't been too happy yet either. And I'll also pick up an orange brittle star tomorrow that we saw after the dust settled but I had already packed my crap up. Everything is in my tank now but still closed, I figure it may take a day b/c...

Phischy's Project PtIII: Actually have corals!

Well, it's about freakin' time. Today my bud Nate tore down his tank and I picked up some pink/purple shrooms, yellow/orange zoo's, Green Frog Spawn (not super healthy but one head is alive), two Rics (also not very happy at the moment but they should pull through) and something else, an...

    Who watches the show LOST?

Who even has time for TV? I'm lucky if I get home before 9pm at night. I'm still seriously wondering why I'm building a reef tank if I may never see it with the lights on! :( I think I have seen 2 episodes, the female lead is a hottie though. Actually, the two shows I do somehow...

    pics of my nano (11.29.04)

To put in all into perspective, I was building my tank and reading for a solid 9 months before my dad finally got me my stand to find out it was 1/2" too short for my tank, so I had to wait longer to get a custom tank built. Then I've had evil Isopod problems...so I've been cycling for over...

    pics of my nano (11.29.04)

Not to bust your balls, but this could have all been avoided by letting the tank cycle for at least a month, even if you did use bio spria or whatever. Some process are better left to nature and there really is no need to rush things. Take it or leave it, someone had to say it.

    Good isopod pic

The army: Unfortunaltey I didn't take a pic when I had twice as many removed and I've got at least three or four in the stravation chamber right now as well. I hate bad pods.[/img]

    Colorless at night?

Most calupera reproduces vegetatively, which means if a little bit breaks off and gets lodged in the right space, it can become a new plant. It's what makes it such a pain to get rid of, you have to be very careful, so even if it's in your fuge, still be carefull b/c a small piece could break...

    help restocking a crashed nano

I've heard too many bad things about float switches getting stuck on or off or failing in general. Maybe it's more of an issue with nano's, I just top off every other day and it's no biggie. Maybe this summer it'll be more of an issue.

    Coral Banded Shrimp

Do you think a CBS and a citron goby would interact well together in a 40gal? I would like to get a CBS but I also plan on getting a few small fish, but I do not want the damn shrimp dining of my fishes.

    Coral Banded Shrimp

Hmmm...well i was thinking of getting the smallest one at the store so he'd have room to grow AND so that he couldn't be as damaging in the mean time. My old one was all over the place, mostly perched on top of the tallest piece of LR showing his prowess. I had a scooter blenny in there that...

    Coral Banded Shrimp

I had one of these in my old FOWLR tank. I really like the way they look, very powerfull (for a shrimp). But...are they reef safe? I've read some posts about them eating other shrimp (the sexies) but I wanted opinions about them in general. I'd like to get one, but not if it's going to be a...

my first reef tank, 10g 8 months old

Then there are the evil ispods. Little...evil...bastards. They look like pillbugs/rolly pollies. Apparently they are detrivores and blood feeders...I thought mine were all gone but I found a big one the other day and I think I see what are tiny juvs on the glass, could be something else but...

    Battery Backup

I saw this on the local craigslist: http://sandiego.craigslist.org/ele/51572154.html Basically what he did was to take an APC computer battery backup system and to swap out the small internal batter with a car battery. He claims it'll keep a 50 watt pump operating for 10hrs. Now this is...

    Phischy's Project: PtII-New Critters

I can't believe this, no sooner did I write the last post that I went into my living room to watch "Hero" and during such viewing a quick movement in my tank caught my attention out of the corner of my eye. Alas! Twas Twenty Days till Christmas and I thought only crabs and snails would be...
