Hey all, i am currently beginning a new project...one that requires (2) 20g longs. I am in the process of aquiring all the necessary equipment and just thought that I would try to see if anyone in the north orange county, ca. area has a tank or two that is not being used and is just taking up...
So this is my current DIY project...a stand for my new setup. It is oversized so that I can fit a sump/fuge underneath (feel free to voice any comments/suggestions you may have for this sump/fuge in my post in the refugium section). It is also just under 36" tall because a 20L is only 12" tall...
Well, now that i am almost done with the stand for my new setup (20g L with 20H sump/fuge), im starting to consider what to do with the 20 gallon H that i planned on using as a sump/fuge.
I was originally considering something like this ---> http://www.melevsreef.com/acrylics/sump ...
I havent posted anything new lately, so now is the time. I just did about a 7 gallon water change yesterday...about twice the normal water change..., completely cleaned out the skimmer and it's pump along with all the power heads. I have a bit of a flatworm problem right now, too. But here...
I am aware of the disadvantages/advantages of both glass AND acrylic, but I wanted to see if anyone out there took the dive into acrylic. Did/do you regret it? Would you suggest it? I ask because while looking into a different tank, I got the itch to try acrylic. It would be a 20g long size...
I would like to incorporate an ATO system in my sump design, but im not sure how to do it. I just checked out MasterEr's posts, but that isnt what Im going for. I would like to use a float switch, which i found at ebay but havent purchased yet ----> http://cgi.ebay.com/Float-switch-w-suct ...
Is there a way to mod a standard Bak pak 2r so i can use it on a sump/fuge? I have plans on a 20L with a 10-15g fuge undertank (either this one http://www.melevsreef.com/acrylics/sumps/f/sump_f.html or this one http://www.melevsreef.com/acrylics/sump ... del_m.html ). The easiest way, though...
What kind of glass do you guys/gals have on your MH setups? I am having a hard time finding UV glass that is also tempered. I originally purchased the glass from Michaels crafts, but quickly (and challengingly) returned it due to some posts on websites stating that their Michaels glass cracked...
Just thought i would post this for any of you looking to get into MH. I found this on another site...thought it would help here too.

Hey guys...I think this post is past due. I want to sell my RBTA and the LR that it is mounted to (and has been for over 2 years w/o moving). The rock is rather large, approx. football shaped and sized. It has a concaved side in which the RBTA planted its foot. Along with this, I will be...
I am interested in hearing what sort of filtration you all would prefer to have on your tank. My tank is 20" wide and my stand doesnt have the capabilty of hiding a sump/fuge in it, so it would all need to be HOB. I currently have a bak pak 2r as my only source of filtration.
So, if you...
Thanks to Mike and Steven today for helping me pick just the right Brain coral today. You guys are great. Well here it is, my newest edition...its fitting right in. It measures approx. 1 1/2" x 2 1/2", its multi-colored, and I got a decent deal on it. enough yappin, take a look...
these are my first all orange zoas. Actually a couple of them are solid orange, a couple are orange skirts with blue-grey speckeled centers. Hey, for $5, couldnt pass them up. Plus, I dont mind buying these things small, they grow like crazy.
I came across a post while researching for my mh retro. Firstly, i plan on designing a 20"L x 6"H hanging canopy very similar to this one, except that the back will be open, and note that there is ventilation along the top ----> http://www.thekrib.com/Lights/Lobos/ . I will be putting a 70...
Just picked up a 70 watt 14,000k MH retro from Jorge @ illuming.com for $130 shipped! Super happy, it is exactly what I’ve wanted for a while.
