    New to Coral Question

Johnny, I took down my 3.5 Tru Vu, in favor of another 12 gallon cube in the bed room. I'm trying to go with a different theme in the bedroom. Large sandbed and LPS frags. Miike

    New to Coral Question

I concur with Dragon. The blue tangs come in baby size, but they need more space. I purchased two in my 12 gallon when I first started and they died of ich in less than 1 week. I learned that the stress on them allowed the ich to spread and take their lives. Mike

    Nothing to do with fish

DJ, I have to agree with you, he seems like he is a turtle type guy. If they are not turtles, he has an iguana in that tank, you can tell he probably likes to feed them lettuce, I can see that in his expression on his face. Mike

    New to Coral Question

DJ, Additives have puzzeld me a lot. I own a marine kent starter kit, Iodine, Calicium and Strontium. Okay, my question is I don't know how much Iodine I should be placing in my tank. I have 12 gallons and maybe only 10 gallons of water because of displacement. I don't have a Iodine...

    LPS ?

I do know they are extremely hardy. I have a colony of 7 heads and have only lost one bud. I have dropped it in the tank, I have banged it against the glass and the most damage was when the frog and torch burned it. But it all came back, it's in my new starter tank of just LPS. Mike

What other fish are compatible with a yellow tail damsel?

I would introduce a dottyback that is slightly larger than the damsel, it will turn the tables on him. Also I remember and I kid you not, my coral beauty would break up fights when they started in my reef. He would see my yellow tale damsel fighting with my dottyback and race over and get...

    Crabs

Incysor, Have you caught the ugly crab? I hated that sucker when it appeared in my 70 gallon tall reef tank. I remember he looked identical to your pictures. Man it brought back bad memories, almost like seeing a picture of that bully who took my lunch money, j/k. But yeah that crab...

To sponge or not to sponge

Well said Dragon, You hit the nail on the coffin. I really like your analogy. And it's a lot of talk about sponges as nitrate factories, only the ones that are neglected. They do more good than bad, if you monitor them. I have just like dragon 2 in chamber one. I removed the other and...

    Overdriving PCs?

There is a balance between ballast and bulb, like incysor said, you don't want to break that balance. Mike

    Actinic

I've read some literature that Actnics penetrate the water better than daylight. So if you have them, they can reach and target bottom sand bed type of corals. Natural sunlight is composed of several spectrums of light, ROYGBIV, Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. If you...

Sugar, How is your pico commin along? I saw that you won the canopy and base for it, that's awesome. So did you DIY the lights yourself or pre-purchase it? How much light do you have in it? Can you keep a clam in it? Mike

    question

Plate can be placed on most places that have a flat surface. They require space for expansion in the night or sometimes during the day. Make sure that they don't bump into sweeping tentacles of a torch or frog coral. I think a plate does best on the sand bed with plenty of space to expand...

    Live Video JBJ 12 Cube...

Hey B, My S500 Canon took that video you saw. It's really cool because the higher the memory card goes the longer I can shoot with my camera. The clip you see is only 20 secs because I didn't want to have too big of a file on his site. I did use a tripod to take the video. Dragons...

    Yellow Clown Goby

They are very hardy and have cool layed back personalities... You'll really enjoy them.... Keep them out of SPS tanks because they like to nip at the polpys.... Mike
