Just taking a guess the first pic is either trumpet coral (candy cane coral) or blastomussa the second pic looks like a hairy mushroom The last pic looks like a ricordia yuma im sure i have something wrong tho....

I do believe many reefers swear by Metal Halides for lighting, but since you are proping mushrooms, i think that a coralife 96w fixture will do just fine or a current usa 80w fixture I dont know mcuh about the 44 gallon tho....

Well, i have had my tank overheated and underheated before and i think the breaking point is above 84.... thats when my tank showed signs of stress.... but i think 78 is ideal
