If you happen to be watching them at the right time you'll notice them releasing little puffs of smoke into the water column, which happens to be sperm/eggs. Very neat to watch!

I would think that heat would have an issue with an outdoor tank. I'm sure somewhere someone has tried it though.

The params of the tank look like you are ready for the clean up crew! The pill bugs you are describing are most likely pods, a good sign for your tank!

I've learned from experience that GSP can be moody. Give it a day or so to see if anything might just be moving accross it to annoy it.

Everything Skip mention is true to what I have experienced with sponges. I did have a sponge that got caught up with micro bubbles but instead of it turning colors it just sort of crumbled. Keeping it fully submersed is very important!

Scrubbing the rock wouldn't be a bad idea, and it sounds like you have everything else under control!
