If you are going to keep clams I think this is a good choice. Metal Halide lighting is probably the best choice in deeper/taller tanks, that way light can reach the bottom of the tank.

J&D, What kind of substrate are you using on your plenum, I hear bigger grain sizes are better. I also read in a forum that FIji pink special grade is a good option, is this true? I have my plenum space right at 1 inch and I was planning on 3 inches of sand above that, what do you think?

I don't mind the questions. From what I've read they do not need to be cleaned out every "X" amount of years. Once the Plenum area matures supposedly it even reduces how often you need to do water changes. Here are some links that I read to decide...
