    cycling new tank

You mean test? I would test every couple days to see if your levels are going down. When everything is zero, the cycle is over.

A college student's move to saltwater....

Yes, I'm still using the same lights. Very happy with them. Yes, it the same aquaclear as FW models. Some folks run the carbon pad just to 'polish' off the water a little but you'll have to replace them every month or so. I've run a carbon pad occasionally as well. I've heard that some...

A college student's move to saltwater....

Cool. Maybe some mushrooms, yellow polyps, or green star polyps. It will really depend on your lighting. I wouldn't personally put two fish that big in your 5.5 but that is just me. I'm sure others will says its okay.

A college student's move to saltwater....

I have a 5.5 (see Member's Tanks section) and I love it. I wouldn't do an undergravel filter but use an Aquaclear 150 instead. It will provide 1) flow to your tank and 2) a quasi filtration system especially if you put some rubble rocks/microalgae in the Aquaclear. In the world of nanos, we...

    Harlequin shrimp tank

Incysor is your man for that question. He has some experience in that area. He'll be around in the next couple of days for that question if noone else responds. Oh, I think Mike G had a harlequin as well.

    Using a toothbrush???

The only reason I can see to scrub your new LR would be if it was covered in hair algae or something pestering like that. If your rock looks to be free of that, I'd leave it alone (especially if its cured). You will loose tons of beneficial creatures by scrubbing your LR down.

    New to the forum

Great advice Incysor. Take her with you for sure and let her pick out a few corals when your tank has finished cycling. Keep her interested and encourage her to help out getting things setup as well. The more involved she is, the more you two will enjoy it. Welcome to the site!

    Site registration problems

It appears that sometime between 9/10-9/13, my server did not send out registration verification emails. Most folks that registered and didn't get the email simply have to re-register. I'm not sure what the problem was but it appears to have been fixed.

Yeah, I think it was a cookie problem with your 'puter. Happens to me sometimes for no reason as well.
