    First timer, Nanocube DX 12G.

Looks better with the extra rock. I'd add even more up to the point of your total goal and let the cycle take place all at once. Be patient and be sure cycle is complete before adding any animals. The temptation to move too quickly is the demon we face when setting up a reef. Stock list...

Hi guys, I am new here... here is a brief intro

It appears you're moving too quickly... Three weeks is too soon to introduce animals to a new tank. I would stop adding animals, stop adding stuff or dosing, and let nature take it's course. The tank should naturally cycle including ammonia spikes, algae blooms and other changes in water...

Is a Nano tank a better starter than any other regular tank?

The blue hippo is a tang, so alas..not for nanos. But if you follow proper husbandry, including no tap water, there's lots of nice fish you could introduce into a properly cycled nano. Nemo would be quite happy there:)

Is a Nano tank a better starter than any other regular tank?

Nano's are fine but not better. Proper cycling and water parameters are crucial to any tank. The tangs were not a good choice for the hex, as they need lots more room to swim.
