Yellow Watchman Question (updated 4-24)

I just got a mushroom yesterday and he was not attached to any rock (which is not a problem to me I guess). But as I put him in the tank, the current moved him all over the place. I did happen to have a small rock for him to try to attach himself and I placed it a shot glass but the mushroom doesn't seem to stay on the rock. Could someone give me some tips on how to help him attach better to the rock because he keeps falling off of the rock. Thanks.

make a chamber out of a pop bottle (to stop the flow) and put LR rubble in the bottom and then put the mushroom on top of that. When it finally decides to attach to a LR pebble then lodge/glue it wherever you want. A guy at the LFS recommended this to me. Haven't tried it yet, but seemed simple enough to work.

You can also use bridal veil to help them attach. I'm currently using a shot glass, but if that doesn't work within a week Im off to look for the veil.

That's what I've done so far. I had turned the shot glass upside down to prevent the current from coming in the glass, but it has happened twice where the mushroom (I assume) pushed himself off of the rock. It seems like there's nothing I can do to keep him secure on the rock.

I think I'm going to do the bridal veil if he keeps falling off the rock. Thanks for that tip.

It takes a while for them to attach to a rock I think. I usually cover the mouth of my shotglass with fine netting, like that stuff tangerines come in, to keep the mushroom from blowing away. In time they attached. One other method i've tried was to put the shroom by itself in a shotglass for a few days till it got comfortable and opened up more. I then picked it up using gentle suction with an ear syringe and stuck him in a hole in one of my live rock. He's been there ever since and has grown to about twice his size.

I think netting him up is what I have to end up doing. When I do the chamber thing, he blooms all the way, and I think that's why he keeps falling off the rock and lands mouth first into the sand. That's what my main concern is, I don't want him face down in the sand. Thanks for all the help and advice, I will be sure to update.

ooooohhh sorry i couldnt come sooner well im not sure if im gonna be any help but when i have a loose shroom i put it with alot of rubble in the 2nd chamber of my nanocube for 2 days and then bualah they attach....cause there is flow but not strong enough to make him fall but if he does he has just live rock around it and eventually has to attach and has light too cause of fuge light.....but maybe you have a brat shroom cause i had 2 times lose shrooms and left them on the 2nd chamber day later and they were attach attach....

I just recently added a couple of corals. One of them in which I am concerned about. Does anyone have any problems with their frogspawn? I find mind very sensitive. I've had him for a day now and left t he lights on longer than usual (maybe an hour or less), came home to him looking like his life was sucked out of him. Usually when he shrinks up, his tentacles are still waving around, but right now its all hanging down. Is he under stress, and possible on the verge of dying. Please help!!

Yes, it turns out that the frogspawn doesn't like the lights on too long, just like my brain coral. Stubborn little things. I really thought I killed my corals.

Yellow Watchman Question

I had added a YWG to my tank maybe two weeks ago, but I noticed something peculiar about him and wanted to know if this is just a characteristic in a YWG or mine is just different. Do any of your YWG keeps his mouth open? For instance it's never closed, like an opened trap? As I fed him today, I noticed that his jaw never closed and that his bottom jaw looked like it didn't have a lip like his upper jaw, like it was messed up or something happened to him to make it this way. I would appreciate feedback, thanks alot!
