Working wit Acrylic

Here's the deal:

I'm going to install an inbox surface skimmer on my new yet to be delievered acrylic tank. I'll then drill the base of the tank so I"ll have out flow directly into my sump.

Who's worked with acrylic? I'll have to get a flat piece, notch the top to skim and then heat up two vertical lines in order to bend it so it makes a \_/ shape to go against the back wall. Not quite that sever but you know. What kinds of glue do I need to hold it agains other acrylic and where can I purchase acrylic? It should be pretty simple (famous last words).

Thanks

Do you already have the tank? I thought it was still being built? If it's still under construction, just have them drill the holes for you and build/install the overflow. It'll probably cost you about the same as doing it yourself, and be a lot less headache.

I just spent 3 weeks trying to get an existing overflow box to work, that wasn't quite right. After cutting, gluing, drilling. The damn thing still didn't work the way I wanted it too. I ended up calling a guy that does custom acrylic work, mostly aquarium related. I gave him my dimensions and he had it done in 2 days, it was perfect, and with rush charges it only cost me $70.

I think the tank may be done, but it would be an addition so maybe not a huge deal. I'll call my guy today to see if he can't track it down and find out where it is. I don't even Have anything yet and already this tank keeps getting more expensive!!!

Nate called me to tell me my tank is in and he's going to bring it by tonight. So I'll ask him to see what he thinks about the acrylic work etc...

I may have a closed system after all. So many damn options!
