Will hermit crabs attack corals?

I noticed two hermit crabs already directly go towards a frag that I just put in? I don't know if they liked the rock they were on or the frag itself. Has anyone had this problem... I'm scared for the frags itself cause its small cause its a nano. Thanks

Nope they will scavenge junk off of it they may irritate it by walking on it but they wont eat it . They wont harm it but may cause it to retract ours do that to all new pieces in our tank :mrgreen:

I agree with Sadie, there must have been some dead tissue or something that attracted them to the frag. If you find them picking at a coral they are probably just scavenging dead tissue.

Your corals are safe from your hermits. One of the worse case senarios is that they knock a frag off of its perch and damage it.

yeah i agree with skipm and sadye but if you got the red legs, blue legs and so on the ones that are beneficial cause there are some kinds like the brown legs with black dots that they might nip on your corals...so dont get any hermits that you dont know anything about it cause some can be a problem....

yeah jenny they do that all the time in my tank sometimes i just want to kill them i think the sexy's and the cleaner do the same job and they dont knock anything down...

:sad: :sad: i cant do that cause if i do that ill never be able to move them and i love to do new aqua scape or well just change some corals places cause the aqua scape still the same just the frags in other places... pics will come soon...
