White stringy stuff from a mushroom..is it dying?

Sorry but from my experience mine did the same thing and melted away.... But then again it may just have happen to me. Maybe others can confirm this :?:

This happens when they become stressed out. How long did you acclimate it before adding it into your tank? Did you notice the 'stringy' stuff being pulled back into the body after a short time?

Thanks for the info. everything was fine for the first 24 hours. It seemed to acclimate well. Another mushroom that I introduced in the same manner is doing well. I noticed the stuff coming out at the time that a Trochus snail was brushing up against the mushroom-maybe it didn't like the snail crawling so close by. Anyways, a few hours later and the stuff is gone now, I assume it was pulled back in and not ejected. Well, I'll keep observing it.

The mushroom is attached to a little bit of stone, it looks like the mushroom is trying to detach itself from the stone and re-locate.

They will move around if they are not in a comfortable position, this is normal as well. If you see that it isn't going to completely detach then you can use some superglue gel and glue that little piece of stone to another rock to try and keep it in place.

that's good news. I noticed that it started doing it again this morning. I'll have to see how it looks after work today. I wonder what it(the stringy white stuff) is.

The 'stringy' stuff that is expelled from the oral disc are actually the digestive track that are either expelled as a defensive reaction or due to stress

low flow but its getting a lot of light. i'll take your suggesiton and move it down to the sand.

they are called mesentary (sp??) filaments. this is a common reaction to stress is in general and is not good but they usualy recover if the stresser is removed. the fact that it has done it a couple times is not good - something is wrong. mine will do this only when i frag them (an obvious stresser). you will need to discover what the issue is or you may lose it. the above suggestions and recomendations are all good...... move it down and leave it be, best to disturb it as little as possible till it acclimates to your tank.
