what's up with avatars?

Dj: Is there something wrong with the avatars? I couldn't view mine, and when I deleted and tried to upload, I got a blank screen and it said "done" but it's all jacked. I tried to optimize my computer, clear out cache and other tactics but with no luck. Figured may be a problem... let me know...

only thing i can do is...

link to the site I found the avatar from. It works I guess, but when it reaches it's bandwidth, it turns to a lovely red x. Maybe I can give it to dj, and he can add it to the list so that way I can always have it. Dj you out there to keep the icon for me?

You'll probably need to find someplace to host it, much like your pictures.

For some reason the Upload Avatar from a URL function sometimes doesn't work. I suggest using the Link to off-site Avatar function.

Apparently, I went with the option you said a few weeks back when i had the problem, and it seems to be working fine. If it goes again, I'll try hosting from some other place.

i'm getting the same problem on both IE6 & FireFox 1.0. blank page when i tried to upload an image (4kb, 60 x 56).

got this error when i tried to upload from another server:

Could not write avatar file to local storage. Please contact the board administrator with this message

well, linking to my avatar seems to work (hosted elsewhere). but i hope you guys can get the hosted avatars to work soon. it's a pretty popular feature.

What part of Vegas do you live in. I lived there for about a year when I was 13. I think it was on the far west side. It's grown a bunch. When I was there I could literally jump the neighbors back yard fence and be in the desert. Nothing out past our subdivision. My parents used to get up early on Saturday morning and drop us off at Redrock, and we'd ride the bike trail back into town.

right now i live on the edge of LV & Henderson, in Silverado Ranch. i doubt it existed when you lived here. early next year, we'll be moving to Coronado Ranch, off Jones & the 215.

too bad you no longer live here, we could do some trading!

It's one of the places I've thought about moving to when I get finished with school, but I doubt it'll happen. My wife really didn't care much for it she thought it was ugly...I can't really argue with her too much. I grew up in the desert, and there are parts of it I really like, but I can certainly see where she's coming from.
