hi guys I am new here! I am not a total novice as I kept a 30 gallon marine tank for two years, but due to having a baby I had to give it up for a while. Now I am back and want to try my hand at nano's.

Me and my partner are very interested in keeping the tank mainly as a beautiful reef tank with some amazing corals. How ever I would also love to keep maybe a purple firefish and a blenny in the set-up maybe one other small fish and clean-up crew.

Could you guys please advise me on what you thiink the best set-up and size would be for what we want. If possible with everything i need to start already with the tank!

Many thanks

I like the all in ones for the simplistic side. (plus the lid will keep the firefish from "carpet surfing") Red Sea, Oceanic, JBJ, Aquapod are the more common all in ones that can do almost anything you want. The tank you want will depend on what kind of livestock you want to keep. If money is not THAT big of an issue then there is a Metal Halide light JBJ 28 gallon that can keep any live stock that meets the size requirements. But that is like $500 bucks just for the tank.

Plus most people upgrade the pumps that come in all in ones to maxijets (900 or 1200) and keep the orignals for emergency back ups. Don't use Bio-balls, cermaic rings, or other biological media - the live rock and sand will do the work. Sponges are ok so long and you clean/swap them once a week or so.

Take a look at tanks here as well as online vendors to see what king of live stock you want and then you will be better prepared to make purchases.

By the way...
