what are the benifits of kalkwasser?

I was reading a diy thread and found plans for a easy kalk doser but before i went ahead and built it i was wondering what excatly does this do for your system ie. what are the benifits of it and how many of you out there use it? all input would be helpful thank you in advance.

Kalwasser is a form of Ca... the best IMO/IME. I use it but not in a reactor. A reactor shouldnt be necessary unless you are running an SPS tank or something like that... a tank that uses a lot of Ca.
