Figured I would throw this out there and see what everyone thinks.
I've always used "Aquasafe" Water conditioner. It's not an expensive brand, but have always been able to get it locally and it's always worked. About 2 weeks ago I went to buy some more and they were out so I tried a Seachem product called "Prime". I happen to be doing a water change on my FW tank and noticed that after I put the required does in while filling the tank back up (used well water on FW tank) that it apparently wasn't cutting it. My fish started to breathe heavy, even got to the point that a few were upside down and looked dead. It stated on the bottle that for hight chorine that you could dose up to 5 times the regular dose, so I did. Within minutes the fish were fine. We just couldn't believe our eyes. I had never had to dose any more than what the bottle stated with Aquasafe. I guess what I am getting at is: Are there times that the name brand just isn't as good?
