Does anyone know the normal Kelvin scale for the bulb that would come with a normal metal halide light like this one would I need to purchase a diffrent bulb I know I need at least 10k but I dont know what type of bulbs the halides you buy like this normally come with?

Thanks,
Aaron

aaron,
the bulb wouldnt be the right kalvin rating, buying the right bulb would put the cost into the range of a whole retro kit made for aquariums.

i did the same research and i came up with.......saving for the real thing. HTH

Fixtures like that usually come with a bulb around 3000k which is much to yellow for a reef. Like Erik pointed out you would come out better in the long run to buy a retrofit kit.
