USB cable length

I'm toying with the idea of having my 20H on live streaming video via my webcam. Problem is that my tank is about 50 feet away from my PC. Does anyone know if they make a 50 foot USB cable that I could run in my attic to the tank?

The easy answer is to use a wireless router then wireless USB but that would run about $150 all together and I'm not sure it would support live streaming video.

Anyone?

I know they make connectors to where you can connect USBs together...problem is USB cables are poor for transmitting live image quality, so a 50 foot USB would transmit very poorly..........go wirless, you can afford it.

I think a USB 2.0 would be better at transmitting live images, otherwise you'd have to step upto Firewire.

I wasn't aware that youcould hook up a perrephial directly to a wireless router, that's kinda interesting. I'm going to be asking my neighbors if any of them has a modem that I could share via a WiFi setup.

Actually, I really cannot afford wireless. It damn expensive!

Think of it like this.... It's like buying a really big fish or like some fancy old coral that nobody has....ooooh....awwww. Only 150 dollars!! You can do it! (although you probably have, since you did post back in June) You've had a lot of time to save....I'd like to see it done, would be nice to check out your tank live...

Has anybody else here tried or done it before or is currently doing it? Link please!!! hehe.

Dragon,

I haven't seen live cams for fish tanks that would be the bomb especially here on this site.

But on nano-reef.com I have seen video link pics where you just click and see the video right there.... Really nice....

Would be nice to get a link started, maybe you can figure it out and post for us, since you are our Tech wizard, guru....

I believe our cameras all have up to 3 minutes digital video....

Adrian goes to this site from time to time that is somebody's reef tank, and it's not live cam but it refreshes like every 10 seconds or something like that. It's neat, although live would be better for sure.
